About Me
My goal is to educate you about the need for physical wellbeing in a long pain-free life. Manual therapies such as massage are not luxuries. Massage is maintenance for the body. It is incredibly important for the long-term health of your body.
Studies estimate that in 75-95 percent of cases, myofascial pain (pain originating in the muscular and skeletal systems) is a primary cause of pain associated with doctors visits, and is left undiagnosed by doctors. Massage can fix your pain, and not just cover it up! Pain is not something you should get "used to".
My name is Joshua Wood, the Trigger Point Assassin. I am a Remedial Massage Therapist, based in Melbourne, Victoria, specializing in returning muscle to full function and the pain relief through Triggerpoint Therapy, Dry-Needling, and Massage. These treatments can improve improperly functioning soft-tissues, which are one of the major causes of chronic pain: from headaches and sore backs to painful knees and achy hips.
"... A massage therapist can improve any performance calling for strength, flexibility and stamina. Muscles in the hands of trained body workers will give up spasms causing aches and pains." Bonnie Prudden, Massage Therapy, Principles and Practice (3rd edition)
I come from a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) background, and I am currently competing in Powerlifting. This has given me a keen understanding of the importance of fully functional muscles in the sporting world. I love working with athletes and sporting injuries.
I am also a trainer and Careers Agent at Sage Massage (www.sagemassage.com.au). My responsibilities include teaching Certificate IV in Massage Therapy, enrolling new students, organising events for student clinic hours, and providing career opportunities.
I always educate my clients the techniques I use, why they are used, how to maintain the treatment effects, and how to prevent the problem from reoccurring.

My biggest passion is holistic health and wellbeing through proper nutrition, preventative care, and fitness. To keep the body healthy and functioning optimally these aspects of life need to be taken into consideration:
The Body's Structure:
Achieving optimal function and health of the musculoskeletal system is done through treatment and self-care of the muscles, soft tissues, and skeleton.
Nutrition:
Proper nutrition gives your body the building blocks it needs. Without proper nutrition everything is affected, from: the ability of your muscles to function properly, your skeleton to support you, and keeping up your energy levels; to: mood stability, proper brain chemistry, hormonal regulation, effective digestion, and even potentially preventing obesity, diabetes, and other diseases that decrease your quality of life.
Fitness:
Lean muscle mass is one of the biggest predictors of health and longevity. The best way to age gracefully and prevent many of the aches and pains life gives you is well rounded, primal movement based fitness, which is sustainable into old age is one of the best ways to prevent many the aches and pains generally experienced in life.
When it comes to the art of massage and treating bodies, there are therapists who have a qualification and therapists who have a gift. Josh Wood has a gift. He is a brilliant clinician who understands bodies and the people who inhabit them.
